Teradek Cube & iPad included with all RED M-X hires

One of the most interesting items of technology that we have added to our hire inventory of late is the Teradek Cube. The Cube is a small wireless transmitter which uses Wifi to transmit HD-SDI video & audio (in H.264 format) from a camera to a Mac – you can even use it to stream video to an iPad or iPhone device.
 
What is currently under development by Teradek – and something which we are currently involved in testing for them – is a new feature which allows a RED camera to control the recording, meaning that a H.264 clip, with file name & timecode information, is created on the Mac everytime the camera enters record mode (so the file generated on the Mac has the same file name & timecode metadata as the R3D generated on the camera). All of this is automated by the Teradek & wirelessly, meaning you quickly get a high quality copy of the rushes for editorial/offline use. The H.264 files can then also be streamed wirelessly to an iPad or iPhone, giving further options for offline viewing.

We strongly believe that the Cube offers some great benefits for streamlining & improving on-set workflow – and we are keen to let you see this for yourself.
